Here’s a really easy recipe that finishes in just minutes. It’s deliciously simple and costs a 3rd of what you’d pay for it at a restaurant.
You will need:
Tools: Stove, skillet, spatula, small/medium mixing bowl
2 Fresh catfish filets (not frozen) ($5.99/lb at HEB)
Zatarain’s Fish-Fri Seasoned Crispy Southern mix ($2.88/box)
1/2 cup whole milk
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon sea salt
Lemon wedge
Tartar sauce
Heat up a large skillet over medium heat. Pour the milk into a small mixing bowl, and coat filets with milk. Pour the excess milk down the drain. Add a thick coating of Fish-Fri to the filets and turn them over onto each other until the Fish-Fri is evenly distributed.
Once the filets are coated and the skillet is heated up, add the olive oil to the pan and evenly coat the oil on the pan. Make sure there is enough in there to fry both sides of the fish without drying up. Now place the filets on the skillet and sprinkle on some sea salt. Let cook for 5-7 minutes. Turn filets over and sprinkle on some more salt. Cook 5-7 minutes on the 2nd side.
Serve the filets with white rice or another garnish. Sprinkle a generous amount of lemon juice on the filets and serve with a side of tartar sauce. Enjoy!
